I have always noticed this.

Whatever it is your are running away from,

"Empty your cup" often is attributed

to a famous conversation between

the scholar Tokusan

and Zen Master Ryutan

Scholar Tokusan, who was full of knowledge and opinions about the dharma,

came to Ryutan and asked about Zen.

At one point Ryutan re-filled his guest's teacup

but did not stop pouring when the cup was full.

Tea spilled out and ran over the table.

"Stop! The cup is full!" said Tokusan.

"Exactly," said Master Ryutan.

"You are like this cup; you are full of ideas.

You come and ask for teaching, but your cup is full;

The people you surround yourself with – finally determine what your life will become like.

Surround yourself with the following for 5 years and what do you think will happen?

• Marathon Runners

• Exercise Fanatics

• Businessmen

• Professional Speakers

• Online Marketers

• Non-fiction Readers

• Alcoholic

• Sexual Maniacs

I have personally surrounded myself

with these kinds of people

at different phases of my life.

The funny thing is,

when I did surrounded myself with these kinds of people –

eventually parts of their personality started to rub on me.

And at some point, it encompassed my personality completely.

I started thinking like them,

behaving like them,

eating like them,

acting like them,

trying to model them,

reading & researching what they read and researched,

taking part in projects they took part in,

Let me confess

I am the biggest hypocrite where this principle is concerned

I myself find it impossible to focus 100%

Whenever I am on my iMac –

either a youtube video is playing

Or a music is being played on my iPod

Or someone is chatting with me on my iPhone

Or I am checking my FB update

Or I am eating something while working

Or drinking something while working

And if none of these is happening

23 web-browers are kept open at the same time

Just in case I miss something.

But I know for a fact – that if I have to achieve exceptional results

I have to complete zone out everything on this planet

And only focus only on that particular task

And this is not at all easy.

However, when push comes to shove,

I do whatever it takes to succeed.

And it is nothing but magic from then on.

The results I achieve and the work I create –

is nothing short of spectacular.

So now – here is your challenge.

Follow this principle.

When doing a particular task

Commit to only doing that task

Nothing else

Absolutely nothing else

Even if it is a practice session

Even if it is a routine activity

Put you complete self – your core – your spirit into it

Focus on the task so powerfully

That time and space should cease to exist

And I can tell you without a doubt

You will be blown away by what results you achieve

ARE YOUR GOALS WRITTEN – CLEARLY?

Imagine this

Your baby has an important vaccination which you must give

Very important life saving vaccination

It has to be given on a particular date,

at a particular clinic,

with a particular doctor

at a particular time

with a particular medicine

at a particular dosage.

And since the doctor has thousands of babies check-in with him

He lets you know – that he would not remember any of the information he gave you.

Now what would you do with this information?

Memorize it?

Write it down somewhere?

Ask someone to remember it on your behalf?

I know this is something totally idiotic

Lets substitute this incident for something else

You have a meeting with the richest man in the world.

You have an opportunity of a lifetime with the hottest celebrity star in the world.

You will be given a Billion dollars if you remember 100 digit number

You would get to marry the person of your dreams if….

Forget all that

The bank informs you that if you do not keep a record of your transactions, you will lose money

Would you memories it or write it down?

In each of the above examples – the fact remains

You would have written each and every aspect of the transaction

Or for that matter – the incidents mentioned above.

Why?

BECAUSE IT WAS IMPORTANT!!!

RIGHT?

So that means

When something is IMPORTANT –

YOU WRITE IT DOWN.

So what about your goals?

SERIOUSLY?

What about YOUR GOALS?

So all the above must be written

Has to be written

And IS written

Why not your goals?

Can you think of a single reason

WHY they shouldn’t be written?

Your goals are NOT written because

YOU DO NOT VALUE THEM

They are ONLY a WISH

And NOT a burning desire

NOT something important

NOT something you give value to

NOT something that you are passionate about

Because IF you were – you would write them down 100%

The fact of the matter is this

If you haven’t written your goals

You will never reach them.

STOP BULSHITTING – WITH YOURSELF

We tend to have a habit of trying to convince ourselves

Many possible realities

For example trying to get into the 4am 7kms running session

When you know for a fact, you will give within 3 days

Trying a new online course

when you know you will lose interest within the 3rd week

Starting to read a book –

when you know you will never complete it beyond the 3rd chapter

So how do you actually bullshit yourself here?

You Consider yourself super special or super lucky or super dedicated

That’s how.

We all like to believe we are more lucky than most

Which is why we purchase the lottery ticket

We all like to believe we will succeed where others have failed

Which is why we open up new businesses

We all like to believe that we will live a long life and get to see our grandchildren

Which is why we spend more time in the office than at home

In all the above cases – the fact of the matter is simple.

We like to believe – whatever it is we like to believe

And the human mind is capable of believing this crap.

So sometimes it is important to stop –

take a stock of all the belief systems we have

All the statements and sentences we give ourselves

And start being real.

And that take a lot of Maturity.

If you are fat and ugly – Stop making it look beautiful

If you stupid – well that is what you are

If you are a failure (for now) – admit that

If you are an addict – you need to spill the beans

Sometimes facing facts is what we need before changing anything else.

So STOP BELIEVING YOUR BULLSHIT.

MASTER THE ART OF TAKING RISKS

So if that quote is true,

Then the big question is

Why isn’t everyone taking risks?

The answer may surprise you.

People do take risks

Getting married is a risk

Migrating to another country is a risk

Having a baby is a risk

In fact, Driving down the road is a Risk

Travelling on an aircraft

Or even playing a basketball gain with your friends is a risk

So its not like no one is taking a risk or that very few people take risks

Everyone does take risks

But not everyone takes Intelligent, Smart, Sinister & Calculated Risks.

To make you understand, Consider this example.

If you want to learn swimming

You do not immediately jump into the raging ocean

You learn step by step.

First the baby pool.

Then the adult pool with supervision

Then the deep end with supervision

Then the swimming coach

Then swimming alone

Then mastering the stroke

Then going to the Ocean

First knee deep area

Then waist deep area

Then with a swimming coach

Then after experience

Mastering the stroke

Then with a group

Then alone

Finally compete to find out where you are and where do you stand.

This was actually my journey that I outlined

How I overcame the fear of swimming in one year.

Let me give you another few more areas where you can succeed.

Let me share with you a few things that I have tried

1. I have tried 7 different web browsers –

2. Lynx, Konqueror, Opera, Mozilla, IE and finally now use Chrome & Safari

3. I migrated from Windows Operating system to Apple

4. I have tried a new toothpaste every month

5. I had sex with a guy (accidentally)

6. I ate cockroaches, scorpions, worms and snakes once

7. I tried a 3 some with 2 whores ( boring shit – nothing like what they show in the porno movies)

In each of these examples comes a certain degree of risks

And the results gave me a new experience.

However, these were the small silly risks.

However, they gave the courage and guts to take the really big risks.

So what were the big risks?

1. I invested my entire life-savings into the hands of a man whom I considered my friend

2. I got married and divorced - 3 times

3. I gave up a corporate life and moved to running a business without a single client

4. I shifted my entire country of residence from Dubai – a place where I spent 36 years of my life and moved to a completely new country where I didn’t know anyone

Now in each of the above examples

I took a risk

Some of the risks I was glad I took

Some of the risks I absolutely regretted taking

Some were smart

The others – totally dumb

However, the one thing that was common among them all was

The learning curve

And yes, the results obtained.

But overall – I grew as a person and the risks that I took

Changed my life forever.

So You Want to grow –

The mantra is simple….

When you copy someone’s strategy or recipe or technique

By the book – letter by letter

You will achieve the same results

It can be a software code

It can be a recipe for a cake

It can be an exercise system

It can be a business process

I follow this strategy regularly in everything I do

It can be an online marketing strategy to achieve a particular goal

It can be a biohack that I have to experiment on my physical body

It can be a format I have to use while copywriting

I am constantly modeling someone –

and that someone is a person whom I admire and look up to.

This helps in reducing mistakes

And saves you a hell lot of money, time and effort.

Consider the success of McDonalds

Why is it they are so successful?

Or rather how is it humanly possible that they are able to become

So successful?

Year after year after year after year?

hell – its like everyone wishes they could

Emulate their success.

But wait McDonald’s is not the only one.

You have

Burger King

Wendy’s

Hardees

Pizza Hut

Now you must be thinking…

Wait a minute…aren’t these ONLY fast food giants?

Look at Toyota, Ford, Honda, Nissan…

Rather look at successful companies in the same industry…

You will notice one amazing pattern….

They copy each other

They study each other

They may tweak a few things here and there

Creative Juke Box versus Apple’s iPod

Samsung versus Apple’s iPhone

Tony Robbins versus the entire Coaching industry

All of them have one thing in common

They NEVER reinvent the wheel

They copy it,

They study it

The adopt it

They adapt to it

They improve on it.

I think Dr. Anil K. Sinha said it best

To achieve your goal You have to get into the character of a winner.

Confident people have a certain way of presenting themselves.

Observe people who are confident and successful

And try to emulate them in your life.

You run slow at first…

Now the sun has come out

You are running faster and faster and faster and faster….

You climb to the top of the stairs….

And then you wave through the millions of people watching…

You have done it!

YES!!!!

The next scene…..

You stand half naked….

Revealing a rippling rock solid set of abs muscles

Flexing you amazing muscles…

Your chest so high like Arnold Schwarzenegger

That you can balance a beer bottle on your pectoral muscles…

While you flex those bulging biceps…bulging triceps…bulging sex-ceps….

….powerful….sweaty….gleaming….

In front of the camera

and yes, then upload it on facebook to get likes

However….this is far from reality…

Like right now

I am sitting alone at my house at 4:23am

And typing out this article

The only thing bulging high enough to balance a beer bottle…

Is my hair belly.

Neither my biceps, triceps or any ceps are bulging.

I am at home

All alone

No one knows and no one cares

Its quiet, silent and boring

In fact – if someone were to play Rocky’s Bill Conti right now

I would throw the fucker out of the window.

I like it quiet.

And I do this shit every night.
